Manual for therapists

Welcome!

The online manual for Bouldering Psychotherapy (BPT)

The manual is aimed at therapists who are experienced in the treatment of psychological disorders, who have climbing or bouldering experience in the supervision of groups, and who would like to integrate bouldering exercises into their therapy. The basic requirements for the implementation are therefore in-depth knowledge of the clinical picture of depression and experience in the treatment of mental disorders, as well as sufficient climbing skills and in-depth knowledge of the safety rules of bouldering.

When carrying out Bouldering Psychotherapy, at least one person in the therapeutic team should be authorized to treat psychological disorders (e.g. licensed psychological psychotherapist) and at least one person should be authorized to lead climbing or bouldering groups (e.g. DAV climbing supervisor, climbing experience grade 7 UIAA).

Core contents of the manual are:

  • Introduction to the concept of Bouldering Psychotherapy
  • Description of the procedure and contents of the ten individual sessions in the evaluated treatment guide
  • Exercise catalog including all mindfulness, relaxation, group and bouldering exercises
